Why Is The Home Workspace Important To Me?
Between 2017 and 2022, I worked as a personal trainer specializing in strength and conditioning, corrective exercise, and functional movement patterns. Many of my clients were busy professionals who often worked from home or completely remote, and I started to notice a pattern. The programs I was building for my clients were consistently focused on improving poor posture, chronic pain, musculoskeletal disorders, and an overall lack of movement and mobility.
Fast forward to 2023, I started a new job and found myself working from home 5 days a week... My new found freedom is great but there was a major problem. The hours I used to spend standing and moving had all of a sudden become sitting and typing, and I could feel the difference not only physically, but mentally. I knew there had to be a better way.
The Beginnings of Home Office Island
After purchasing my first standing desk and ergonomic chair, I quickly understood that there was enormous potential in my humble home office...
I began researching the most effective ergonomic solutions and safest exercise tools for the home office. After a few simple changes were made to my workspace, I can now say that I now feel more energized, focused, and productive than ever before. I became obsessed with the idea of not only transforming my own work from home lifestyle, but how I could help others do the same.
Long story short... I started Home Office Island to continue helping others live their healthiest and happiest lives. I see now that my "purpose" could be to not only empower others to embrace positive changes, but to understand the struggles of working from home and make a difference. I firmly believe that with the right tools and habits, the experience of working from home can be something that is truly life changing.
